Today, on May 19th 2009 Vladivostok Air has greeted its first long haul wide-bodied A330-300 thereby joining the Big League of the world aviation.
Vladivostok Air is the only operator of A330-300 in the Far East. The aircraft is certified in all aspects for the operation both in domestic and international flights. Only two of all Russian airlines have this type aircrafts in their fleet. A330-300 compares favorably to other airliners of similar size with its high fuel efficiency, comfortable passenger cabin layout and large cargo capacity. It is no wonder that A330 airplanes are so popular with airlines all over the world.
At the solemn ceremony Mr. Vladimir Saibel, Vladivostok Air General Director said that Primorye airmen are very proud of their A330 because Vladivostok Air is the first Far East airline to operate the long haul wide-bodied aircraft. This is one of the main progress indicators for the airline. Not only Vladivostok Air enlarged is air fleet, it made a quantum leap on Russian air market. Due to the high fuel efficiency this aircraft type will enable Vladivostok Air to offer 10-15% lower tariffs for its passenger flights.
A330 aircraft configuration for our airline has 327 seats cabin layout, including 24 business and 303 economy class seats. On June 9 Vladivostok Air passengers will be able to see the true value of the long haul in direct flights to Moscow and Saint Petersburg. The benefits include low noise level in flight, wide gangways, two aisles, improved air conditioning, video and audio entertainment systems.
High tech features of the aircraft include Fly-by-Wire, joysticks instead of hand wheel, multifunctional LCD on the flight deck and composite front fuselage sections. The aircraft is driven by two General Electric GE CF6-80E1A2 engines approved for ETOPS-180. The avionics and flight deck are generally unified with А340 and А320 series.
According to its А330 assimilation program Vladivostok Air is going to get two more aircrafts of this type. The second A330 will arrive in October 2009, the third one is expected in March 2010.
